About the classification of nickel-metal hydride batteries

asva (1)

Nickel-metal hydride batteries are divided into high-voltage nickel-metal hydride batteries and low-voltage nickel-metal hydride batteries.

Low-voltage nickel-metal hydride batteries have the following characteristics:

(1)The battery voltage is 1.2~1.3V, comparable with cadmium-nickel batteries;

(2)High energy density, more than 1.5 timesthat of cadmium-nickel batteries;

(3)Fast charging and discharging, and good low-temperature performance;

(4)Can be sealed, and have a strong resistance to overcharging and discharging;

(5)No generation of dendritic crystals,which prevents the battery from short-circuiting;

(6)Safe and reliable, with no pollution to the environment, no memory effect and so on. Memory effect, etc.

High-voltage nickel-metal hydride batteries have the following characteristics:

(1)high reliability. It has good over-discharge andover-charge protection, can withstand higher charge and discharge rates and no dendrite formation. It has good specific characteristics. Its mass specific capacity is 60A-h/kg, which is 5 times higher than that of CdN battery.

(2)Long cycle life, up to thousands of times.

(3)Compared with nickel-cadmium batteries, it is fully sealed and has less maintenance.

(4)Excellent low temperature performance, no significant change in capacity at -10℃.

Maintenance when using

Nickel-metal hydride batteries should pay attention to maintenance during use.

(1)Avoid overcharging during use. Within the cycle life, the use of the process should not be overcharged, this is because overcharging is easy to make the positive and negative electrode expansion, resulting in active material off and diaphragm damage, conductive network damage and battery ohmic polarization becomes larger and other issues.

(2)Prevent deterioration of electrolyte. In the cycle life of nickel-metal hydride batteries, hydrogen precipitation should be suppressed.

(3)Storage of nickel-metalhydride batteries. Storage of nickel-metal hydride batteries should be after fully charged, if the battery is stored for a long time without storing electrical energy in the battery, it will weaken the function of the negative electrode hydrogen storage alloy of the battery and lead to the shortening of the battery life.
